Winchester High Street faces a revamp after recent years have indicated that the High Street’s overall appearance has declined and that it isn’t keeping with Winchester’s historic image.

The High Street revamp is part of the Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council’s plans to accommodate to the public’s needs by creating a Town Access Plan, in which people who live in or work around the city centre are being asked to deliver their views in order to improve the community.

The Winchester Town Access Plan (WTAP) follows on from the Winchester Movement and Access Plan created and developed during the 1990s.

Hampshire County Council ensures that the pathways are safe by replacing damaged paving slabs on a regular basis; however, there are several other factors such as excavation work by utility companies, vehicle damage, and unavailable materials which further compound the problem.

The refurbishment of the High Street, through new paving and street utilities such as benches and rubbish bins, would improve conditions for pedestrians for the foreseeable future.

A public exhibition will be held at Winchester Guildhall on the 7th and 8th of March, giving the people of Winchester a chance to state their views publicly.

The intro is a bit confusing. Stand back and decide what the news is here, and then just tell the story. It is always a risk to make the technical subject of the sentence an inanimate object such as Winchester High Street. technically the sentence mechanics are wrong on CASE – Winchester Hight Street just “is” it can’t do anything, or face anything. Study grammar (see other blog comments – Hicks etc). You need something more like WINCHESTER SHOPPERS WILL SEE A BIG IMPROVEMENT IN THE TOWN IF A NEW PLAN UNVEILED TODAY GOES AHEAD.

Then you need to get to quotes pretty quickly “IT IS A DREAM COME TRUE” said shop owner so and so… etc.

then you can run the headline WINCHESTER TOWN CENTRE GETS ‘DREAM’ MAKEOVER or something.

This work is OK, but perplexingly not as good as your previous post – possibly just due to rush or simple bad luck. But do not worry – to boringly borrow a concept from the world of football (where I know you are a person of especially elevated taste and wisdom) “form is temporary, but class is permanent”.

See all other comments on other blogs, if you have got time, to benefit from my advice and see the standards of where we should all be at, etc.
